Meeting called to order at 6:39 PM.
Bobbie made a motion to approve the minutes from the June meeting. Nicole seconded the motion and it was voted unanimously in favor. Jodine will submit them to the Town Office.
REPORTS:
Chairman: Meghan is interested in the position. Once Chuck puts his resignation in writing, we can elect a new Chair
Treasurer: $1658.22 available in regular budget.
$3717.49 (accounting for scholarships to be paid for 2021 and 2022 recipients) Will be adding $1217 from the concert ticket raffle and baseball concessions received today = 4934.49 available
Basketball: No street shoes (for players) or Gatorade on the newly refinished gym floor
Soccer: still need to replace nets
There are currently no team benches. Meghan priced them and they are $850 each for 15 ft.
Registration will be earlier this year to practices can start before school. Online registration will be ready Aug 1 for 2 weeks
Practices will start the week of the 22nd
Need an instructional coach
Discussion regarding a 3-day soccer camp Aug 9, 10, 11
Meghan made a motion that we charge $25 per child; Nicole seconded the motion and it was voted unanimously in favor.
We will need to look into the cost of shorts to order more
Also need ice packs
Baseball/Softball:
Season is over. We had better numbers this year and a very supportive group of parents
OLD BUSINESS:
Meghan has located bleachers in Scarborough that will be $3142 each. Shipping would be $2000. If they are purchased through the Town, they would be tax exempt
We have $6000 in donations specifically toward the bleachers
Discussion regarding how to reduce shipping costs
Jodine made a motion that we allocate $7217 (6000 + 800 raffle proceeds + 417 summer concessions) for purchase of bleachers. Nicole seconded the motion and it was voted unanimously in favor.
We have 2 high school volunteers for field hockey. Meghan made a motion that we start an instructional field hockey program for PreK to grade 6. Bobbie seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
NEW BUSINESS:
Dennis reports that the Building Committee has one year to move the playground but most of the equipment is not worth saving. What can be moved will require fundraising and labor.
Corinna Days in August:
There will be kids' tractor pulls; some help from Rec members may be needed. Lois requested use of our blue baseball fence for that event.
Rec will be putting a float in the parade with a sports theme. Truck/trailer/driver have been donated
Rec will be hosting a 5K event, Corinna Rec Dash Day 8/21. Registration will be $25 for adults and $10 for kids up to age 12
Jodine made a motion that we allot up to $500 for T-shirts (first 25 registrants for 5K), awards/ribbons, float decorations, parade candy, incidental supplies for Corinna Days. Nicole seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
In October, there will be a professional wrestling event fundraiser for the building. Assistance with advance ticket sales is requested.
Bobbie made a motion that we provide $110 to purchase racks for Michelle Ervin to be able to easily move the chairs required for her fitness programs. Meghan seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.
