CORINNA WATER DISTRICT
MEETING MINUTES – MONTH OF MARCH
MARCH 31, 2014

            

     The Corinna Water District met at the Stewart Library Building and the meeting was called to order at 3:05pm.

     Present were Chairman Jim Louder, Bill Condon, Elaine Lister, Kim Godsoe, Rebecca Hewett (DEP) and

     David Wright (DEP)

 

     Treasurer reported the checking account balance at Sebasticook Valley Credit Union is $65,446.24 as of

     March 31, 2014. The balance will be $63,319.58 when checks listed on the March Warrant are approved.

 

     February 24, 2014 minutes will be approved at the April 28th meeting.

 

 

     PUBLIC COMMENTARY:

     None

 

     OPERATOR’S REPORT:      

     Operator reported that everything is going OK.

     BUSINESS:  

 

     Election of Officers:

     Bill Condon made a motion to elect Jim Louder Chairperson and Elaine Lister seconded. Unanimous approval.

     Bill Condon made a motion to elect Elaine Lister Clerk and Jim Louder seconded. Unanimous approval.

     Sandee Kerr will continue to be Secretary / Treasurer…A formal appointment vote will be taken at the April 28th

     meeting since Sandee was not in attendance.

     

The $50,000 subsidy received from the DEP has been deposited into our checking account. A motion was made by Bill Condon and seconded by Elaine Lister that this money is     to be placed into a ladder of CD’s at the Sebasticook Valley Regional Credit Union in the following manner: $12,500 in a one year CD; $12,500 in a two year CD; $12,500 in a three year CD, and $12,500 in a 4 year CD. The motion was unanimously approved. Sandee Kerr and Jim Louder will do this as soon as possible.

 

Discussion was held with DEP representatives David Wright and Amanda Beckwith regarding Corinna Water District’s plans for operation and management. We discussed ways in which the DEP can assist us financially in the future. A handout outlining ways that we can grow and receive technical assistance through working relationships with other agencies was discussed and we were assured that the DEP will assist us in our endeavors. The trustees believe that the DEP now has a thorough understanding of our concerns regarding our future sustainability. We feel the meeting was very productive.  

 

Letters of thanks were sent to Rep. Ken Fredette and Maine Rural Water Association executive director Steve Levy thanking them for their assistance in securing a $50,000 subsidy from the DEP.

 

     Other Business: None

    

     REVIEW OF ACCOUNTS:

                25       accounts paid in full

                1       account has 4th qtr. Balance due of $14.72

                1       account makes partial payments, has credit balance  

                1       account not occupied / no further billing (Insurance Building)      

 

     WARRANT FOR UNPAID BILLS:    

The March Warrant was reviewed and approved.

 

 

The next meeting will be held on Monday April 28th, 2014 at 3:00pm.
